Navigate through directory

I have several directories with a large number of unrelated HTML documents (upper right) and I'd like to browse through them much like I do with an image viewer, you know, you load one image then scroll through the directory with a mouse wheel, cursor keys or arrow icons.

At the moment you have to load each document individually, so I suggest Firefox be given this feature which I will refer to as Navigate Through Directory(NTD for short, feel free to suggest a better name). I've created a mock up (lower right) of my idea, when you click on a local file and it opens in a new tab another set of navigation icons appear in the toolbar. O.K. so two sets of arrows are probably confusing, maybe a globe image and a file image can be transposed over the two sets of arrows to indicate remote and local files respectively (mock up soon).

NTD will be useful for any file that a browser can understand, e.g. viewing .svg files that normal image viewers can't load (like Kuickshow, my default option) or text files such as XML data, startup scripts, .rc files, log files, source code /etc/etc.

Clicking the history sub-arrows (sorry, I'm not sure what they're called) on the local navigation icons brings up a list of documents preceding the one displayed if you click on the left facing arrow and clicking on the right arrows history brings up a list of succeeding documents (mock up soon).

If you have any comments or criticisms mail me and I'll put them on this page. My email is andyfrommk at googlemail.com
